Our Community garden is one of two local community gardens that is involved in Food From Home’s Seed Library Project. This will see our garden have the opportunity to create a great bank of seeds for local community gardeners to use for years to come. Stay tuned for seed swap dates. This is a time you can come up to the garden and swap seeds or even seedlings so you have a range of flowers and produce growing in your garden.

Join us as we take a look at ways to success-fully graft and grow plants from cuttings, see the many ways you can grow a garden that is achievable on any scale. Come and join us for a morning of finding out about the good bugs that help your garden grow. Make your own insect house to take home and see why these insects are welcomed visitors to any garden. 

Planting for the new season

Check out what to plant for the next season, the conditions they need to produce the best results and how to keep pests away. Enjoy a morning of planting and sharing ideas and tips. 

Note: These dates are subject to COVID restrictions in accordance to permitted gatherings and numbers at the time of the event. All participants will need to be fully vaccinated. Bookings will be essential for workshops.

Garden Group: Tuesday 9.30-11.30am 

Like to know more about gardening or wish to share your experience with others? Come along to Garden Group and you’ll get all this and more. 

Held at our Community Gardens at 11 Hellyer Way (located just behind the Uniting Church), the group runs from 9.30-11.30am. 

Bring your garden gloves, to enjoy a morning of gardening, sharing of ide-as and a well deserved cuppa. 

Rest assured, if you need a little respite from the weather be it too warm or cold, we can still gather in the comfort of our adjoining portable room. 

Come along to this fun new class where you will learn how to make deco-rative items from recycled materials such as plastic bottles. Make ‘recycled art’ flowers and pot plant holders. Bring empty clean plastic bottles, all other materials provided.

In this 3 week workshop conducted by an experienced glass artist, you will create a fabulous mosaic tile that you can use for decoration in the home or garden. You will learn the tips and techniques of mosaics, such as design, cutting glass, tiling and grouting. Book early as places are limited.

Boomerang Bags is a community initiative where volunteers make reusable bags from recycled fabric and provide them to the community as a sustainable alternative to plastic bags. Help make bags at the fortnightly sew-ing bees. Tasks include cutting materials, ironing, screen printing and sewing. All ages welcome and no experience required. Free event. No bookings need-ed. If you have been under a great deal of stress, not just from isolation, but from caring and teaching children, caring for elderly parents, family issues and suchlike this course will provide opportunities and practices for creativity, self care and relaxation practices. These workshops will include mindfulness activities, discussion, sensory and art activities. These activities will be based around diverse mediums of art such as watercolour, journaling, mandalas and collage maps that participants can use regularly to enhance their mental health and sense of well-being.
